We know your time and resources are limited but we think we have a unique and effective use for both. We ask for support of TAKE-OFF’s new e-Learning Initiative (Eli).
Our initiative is focused on the serious problem of the high school dropout rate, and our mission is improving “The Graduation Gap”. Our target population is the people at the highest risk of not graduating.
Every year more than 1 million students drop out of high school. 92% of students believe they will graduate from high school but only 7 out of 10 actually do. Fewer than 6 out of 10 African-American, Hispanic, Native American, low-income and urban students graduate. If that trend continues, over the next 10 years, it will cost the nation more than $3 trillion in lost wages, productivity and taxes. It costs individuals even more as it costs them their economic future, self-respect and their confidence.
Currently our proposed geographic locations are; New York City, Washington DC, New Orleans and Los Angeles for physical facilities. Our virtual locations are everywhere.
The e-Learning Initiative (Eli) virtually, and EdTech e-Learning Centers physically for economically disadvantaged youth, provides physical and educational programs using Tablet Apps. Our program focuses on Youth Empowerment through Sports, Recreation and Learning. Please note that Eli is especially effective in helping Special Needs children and teenagers. Our programs are need-based and our focus is on helping children and adolescents; we have no arbitrary eligibility rules and we do not discriminate against anyone.
The exciting idea new aspect of our program is we have determined a way to leverage Education Technology (EdTech) utilizing tablets. We have un-locked the extreme benefits of the iPad 2, most importantly the Apps. Mobile computing for youth, combined with proper motivation is the e-learning solution. Coach Eli’s charisma is contagious and working with many local grassroots nonprofits, our model can achieve the goal of 90% graduation rate by 2020.
The next step is to secure the resources necessary to start the program. We need tax deductible grants, donations, sponsors and volunteers. Currently we are planning to have engaging fundraisers with online silent auctions, using our propriety mobile bidding App, offer one-of-kind items, including “iPads for Eli.”
